A sudden increase in the number of dengue patients in and outside Dhaka

The number of dengue cases has suddenly increased drastically since this month causing new problems for doctors. It has been reported from various media outlets that more than 5,500 dengue patients have been identified in the first 15 days of this month and what has happened in various hospitals and health complexes is raising concerns about the health security of the people of the country.

Last week a 37-year-old man named MD.Hanif was admitted to Shariatpur Badarganj Upazila Health Complex. When his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Dhaka Medical college hospital on Thursday, where he informed that the number of dengue patients in their upazila had increased significantly.

During a visit to DMCH hospital yesterday afternoon, it was seen that many of the dengue patients had come from outside and were admitted. Meanwhile,According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 95 people have died of dengue this year and 23,410 people are currently hospitalized.

The health expert suggests that among the factors that have failed to prevent dengue spread, public lack of awareness, lack of sufficient skilled personnel in the city corporation,lack of modern equipment, and poor hygiene among the main reasons.

Experts also said that all the people and the administration must take the right initiative and play an effective role now,otherwise this dengue disease will become even more dangerous.
