Official results of DUCSU elections announced who has win

The election officials are announcing the official results of DUCSU elections at the Senate Building of Dhaka University on Wednesday (September 10).

According to the announced results, the candidate of the United Students Alliance supported by Chhatra Shibir, Md. Abu Sadiq (Sadiq Kayem), won the VP post, SM Farhad won the GS post, and Mohiuddin Khan won the AGS post.

The announced results showed that Sadiq Kayem received 14,042 votes. His closest rival candidate, Chhatra Dal candidate Abidul Islam Khan, received 5,708 votes. In addition, the third highest number of votes was received by Independent Alliance candidate Umama Fatima, who received 3,389 votes. Independent candidate Shamim Hossain received 3,681 votes. Anti-Discrimination Student Parliament Panel candidate Abdul Quader received 668 votes and Prevention Council candidate Sheikh Tasnim Afroz Imi received 26 votes.

SM Farhad, the candidate of the United Students Alliance supported by Chhatra Shibir, received 10,794 votes for the GS post. And the report also shows that his closest rival candidate Tanvir Bari Hamim, a candidate from the Chhatra Dal-backed panel, received 5,283 votes. Meghmallar Basu, candidate for the Prevention Council, received 4,949 votes.

For the AGS post, the candidate of the United Students Alliance supported by Chhatra Shibir, Mohiuddin Khan, received 9,501 votes. His closest rival, the candidate of the Chhatra Dal-backed panel, Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, received 4,254 votes.

Meanwhile, Chhatra Dal candidate Abidul Islam Khan and Independent Alliance candidate Umama Fatima have rejected the election results. Abdul Quader has also criticized the election widely and accused it of rigging.

The winner, Sadiq Kayem, is the former president of Dhaka University Chhatra Shibir and the current central committee’s publicity and publications secretary. He also alleged irregularities against Chhatra Dal during the election. He also accused the administration of providing immoral benefits to the Chhatra Dal.
Earlier, the results were announced at around 2 am on Tuesday. Sadiq Kayem won by a large margin in all the halls except Jagannath Hall. He got only 10 votes in Jagannath Hall. On the other hand, Abidul Islam Khan got 1,276 votes

Earlier, DUCSU voting was held from 8 am to 4 pm. This time, DUCSU and Hall Sangsad students voted at 810 booths in eight centers on the university campus.
This time the total number of voters is 39,874. If there are five female students, the number is 18,959 votes, while if there are 13 male students, the number is 20,915.

A total of 471 people are contesting for 28 posts in DUCSU. There are 13 seats in each constituency, making the total number of posts 234. 1,035 people are contesting for these posts. This means that in total, voters have to cast 41 votes this time.
